About TBA
Technology Based Assessment (TBA Centre) is a scientific research and infrastructure centre at DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education that develops technology-based procedures for the survey of learning results.
In 2007, the Centre for Technology Based Assessment was founded at DIPF as an interdisciplinary team interconnecting expertise from computer science and educational-psychological diagnostics. Since 2010, the core of TBA has been institutionalised at DIPF. Furthermore, today’s TBA centre includes two research professorships that are - from the diagnostical and the informational point of view - working on questions of technology-based testing.
The inter-departmentally organized TBA Centre generates scientific research and infrastructure services in the area of technology based assessment. As a permanent task TBA supports educational research institutions and projects regarding the development of technology based assessments and their implementation. Therefore, many projects are executed, for example, in the field of software development. Moreover, TBA pursues independent fundamental-, problem- and application-oriented research. TBA is engaged in national as well as international educational research and assessment projects, e.g. PISA, PIAAC or NEPS.
Based on comprehensive research, development as well as project experience the TBA Centre offers suitable technical infrastructure. The work is run by a team of psychometricians, computer and information scientists. This interdisciplinary orientation permits offering integrative infrastructural services and the initiation of innovative scientific achievements.
